About the Artist D'vora Black was born in 1956 in Harare, Zimbabwe. She studied Art and Music at Rhodes University in South Africa. In 1979 D’vora graduated with a B.Fine Art degree and education diplomas in Music, Art and English. From 1980-1984 she taught in schools in South Africa. After her marriage, she moved to Israel in 1984 where she began to establish her studio specializing in illuminated Judaica. D’vora draws inspiration from the beautiful flowers and variety in the Israeli landscape, together with the richness found in a Jewish home and family.

About the Artwork D’vora uses a variety of styles and media in the wide range of pictures that she has produced over the years. There are several collections of work: 1-”Spring Flowers from Jerusalem”using real pressed flowers in each design. 2- “Silver Collection” using Sterling Silver motifs in the designs. 3- “Illustrated Judaica” using decorative designs around quotations and prayers from traditional Jewish sources. There is a bold use of color and design in her work especially in the range of children’s pictures.The work includes pictures for all occasions :Weddings, Bar-mitzvahs,Bat-mitzvahs, Birth of a child, Housewarming gifts etc.
